Inspired in part by his brother's handwritten WWII memoirs, the main setting of Jerry's second novel is war-torn Europe. He fictionally linked excerpts to an historically accurate tidbit of U.S. Government sales of surplus firearms to France in the 1870s. Two hundred of these were Model 1863 Rifled Muskets contracted to Remington in 1865... just like the one pictured on the bookcover.
