Muskets...to a machine gun fight

Inspired  in part by his brother's  WWII memoirs, the main setting of Jerry's second novel is war-torn Europe.   He fictionally links parts of these memoirs with another historically accurate tidbit of  history: when in 1870, the U.S. Government sold  "obsolete"  firearms to France .  Part of the shipment included two hundred Model 1863 Rifled Muskets  contracted to Remington in 1865... just like the one pictured on this book cover!   Obsolete firearms...really?
